What are the most important issues facing your neighborhood in the next two years and how do you plan to address them?

(1) Public Safety(2) Education and Recreation for Youth and Elderly (3) Improved Government Service DeliveryWhen I am re-elected, I intend to lobby the MPD to substantially reduce the rate of crime in my neighborhood. Also, I plan to get the Department of Transportation to conduct traffic calming studies around our schools and on our major roads. The WASA must be held accountable for providing safe drinking water in our neighborhood. And, I plan to lobby the City Council and the Mayor to provide low or no interest rate loans to replace lead pipes. You have my pledge that I will strongly encourage all groups in my SMD, to come together and speak with one voice, in relocating the Emery Shelter and modernizing the Harry Thomas Recreation Center so that services can be provided to our youth and elderly year-round.

I will use this "grassroots" approach to vigorously pursue adequate funding for our children, particularly Pre-K through 3rd grade students, so that they will be able to read and understand what they read before going to the next level. Lastly, I will support Council Member Orange's vision to transform the new McKinley Technology High School, Hyde Leadership Charter School and the Emery Elementary School into an educational campus that serves students from pre-kindergarten through junior college.
