Brentwood DMV to close on Saturdays

Dear Councilmember Staff Liaison,
Earlier this year, the Department of Motor Vehicles opened two new satellite
offices, Brentwood Plaza, on Brentwood Rd. NE, in Ward 5 and the Shops at
Georgetown Park on M Street, NW in Ward 2. When we opened these satellite
locations, we were embracing the Mayor's commitment to bring government services
into neighborhoods.
Our success in creating satellite offices has raised some concerns about parking
and traffic at Brentwood and overcrowding inside the mall at
Georgetown. After much thought and consideration for our neighbors and our
customers, we have decided to relocate our Saturday operations to our
headquarters in the Municipal Center, at 301 C Street, NW. Effective Saturday,
September 21st, we will combine staffs from both locations to bring full service
to C Street on Saturdays.
The office hours will be from 8:15am until 2:00pm. Parking is available on C
Street and throughout the downtown area on Saturdays, and the location is Metro
accessible. Services will include vehicle registration, registration renewal,
driver's license issuance and renewal, driver records and knowledge testing for
learners' permits. This change will alleviate the concerns and give residents a
comfortable, indoor environment where they can conduct their business.
DC DMV at The Shops at Georgetown Park and Brentwood Plaza will remain open for
operation, Monday through Friday from 10:00am - 6:00pm.
