The Council's 12 Committees will hold oversight hearings on agency
performance during Fiscal Year (FY) 2002 in preparation for its review of
the Mayor's budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The attached notice provides the public hearing
schedule, which lists the
date and time that the Committee will consider the performance of each
agency under its purview. In addition, information on who to contact to
testify is included under each scheduled hearing. The Council's 12
Committees are having oversight hearings prior to the submission of the
Fiscal Year 2003 budget. Written or in-person testimony can be submitted,
however for written testimony, the record of the public hearing will close
two days after the hearing date.
The Council has fifty (50) days to complete its review of the Mayor's budget
for Fiscal Year 2003. Thus, written comments are preferred since the
Committees' time to consider public comment in the hearings may be brief.
This is the first annual budget since the control board disbanded and the
city had a budget surplus of $77.6 million for FY01.
Please be sure to check the Council's website under the "Calendar of the
week"
www.dccouncil.washington.dc.us/calendar.html for updates to this
schedule and more detailed information. Also if you intend to appear in
person to testify, please let the office know at 202 724-8028.
